Having a family is probably one of the most important things to everyone in the world today. In the famous novel, Rule of the swot, Russell Banks shows us the manner of a young teenage male child who goes with struggles and conflicts to scratch the family that he al substances wanted but neer had. Bone is a fourteen year old boy living in the streets of New York in search for a family of his own. Growing up with an alcoholic mother and an abusive step-father was not his idea of a happy family. Being kicked out of his kinsperson and having nowhere to cut into to but the streets, gives him the chance to go settle people he can call his family. Bone and his comrade Russ decide to find a place to stay when they collide with some biker guys. Bone becomes accomplices with them and ends up living with them also. (Banks 25-58). He begins to rifle used to his life with these guys. For a kid without a home it was an interesting way of life.

The bikers for instance kept you pretty alert. (Banks 44). even so he still has thoughts somewhat how his life would have been if he still lived at home with his parents. After some convic tion his family with the biker guys comes to! an end and Bone is on the search again for a family. He finds a Jamaican man who he becomes shut to and becomes his new family. (Banks 151). He travels to Jamaica with him and starts to date how to be Jamaican by growing dreadlocks and learning to develop Jamaican food. Bone sincerely begins to feel like he has found someone who cares about him and can have a happy family with.
