Due to his race the whites always tried to cheat on him when trading as they imagined him to be uncivilized and thus could take advantage by failing to lucre and bad debts. He was also assaulted by Dr. Perkins on the basis of his being a black man. His life was determined by his race where the black state were mistreated by the whites.
